At SUNMARK FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, we recognize the importance of your privacy and are committed to providing the highest level of security and privacy regarding the collection and use of our members' personal information. SUNMARK FEDERAL CREDIT UNION respects your right to privacy and takes every precaution to provide you with the same level of privacy whether using traditional or electronic Credit Union delivery channels. INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU We collect information about you from:
Information we receive from you or affiliated car dealerships on written, online or oral applications or other forms, such as your name, address, social security number, email address, assets, and liabilities;
Information about your transactions with us, such as your account balance and transaction history;
Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency, such as account closure(s), your creditworthiness or credit report;and
Information obtained when verifying information you provide on an application or other form(s).
PARTIES WHO RECEIVE INFORMATION FROM US We may disclose information about you to these types of third parties:
Financial companies, such as insurance companies, mortgage and appraisal companies, consumer reporting agencies and securities broker-dealers;
Non-financial companies, such as our data processor, loan orgination companies, check printers, document destruction companies, and companies that perform marketing services on our behalf; and
Sunmark does not share or sell any member information to any third party other than those with whom we contract for assisting us in conducting Sunmark business. Therefore, no opt out information is necessary.
DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION TO PARTIES THAT PROVIDE SERVICES TO US We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements, so we may provide you with competitive products and services. We may also disclose information about you under circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security of our financial records.
DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION ABOUT FORMER MEMBERS If you decide to terminate your membership with Sunmark , we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.
LIMITED EMPLOYEE ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION We restrict access to information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We educate our employees about the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your information.
THIRD-PARTY DISCLOSURE RESTRICTIONS Sunmark Federal Credit Union follows strict privacy procedures in regard to protecting your personal information. In addition, the Credit Union requires all third parties with a business need to access this information to adhere to similar and equally stringent privacy policies.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF Here are simple steps you can take to protect your information and help prevent identity theft:
Never give personal information over the phone, unless you initiate the call.
Shred papers that contain personal financial data, such as ATM, credit card, debit card and other receipts.
Never give your Personal Identification Number (PIN), security code or password in writing, over the phone or online to another third party for any reason.
Never write your social security number on a check.
Keep your mailbox and your mail secure.
Carry as few credit or debit cards as possible and check periodically to make sure you have them.
Sign new credit and debit cards as soon as you receive them.
Report lost or stolen credit or debit cards immediately.
Make sure you are using a secure browser when you are shopping or conducting financial transactions online. Look for the "lock" icon on the browser's status bar to be sure your information is secure during transmission.
